Hi,

I need to make just a 1/2 cup of black MMF. If I just add Americolor's Black gel paste to the MMF, will the color be dark enough? I saw a recipe for True Black MMF, but I really don't need that much black MMF since I'm only making this for a one time event.

I appreciate your help!

Yes, americolor black gel will make it dark enough. Actually, add the gel a little at a time. Stop when it's about charcoal gray. Let it rest overnight and it will darken. You can always add a little more, if needed.

Some time you have to add so much color that it starts to get too soft. If that happens add cocoa (dutch if possible) instead of powdered sugar.

When I make my MMF and need black, I start out using the chocolate marshmallows. I then start adding black...doesn't need as much as when starting out with white...

I make my black first by adding chocolate brown (americolor) and cocoa to fondant. I use the Foster's recipe in the docs.

Then I add a little Americolor Black and knead it in. But to get the jet black, I add some powdered candy color. AWESOME!
