Hi, I´m a beginer in Cake Decoration with Fondant, I have a petit bakery and I´d like to display some fake cakes but I have a problem... Fondant looses color under sunlight or incandescent light!!! is there another material that i can use or any ideas to keep the color in my fake cakes?
Other than pinks and purple, fondant holds up fairly well. There's always PermaIce to replicate bc.
It sounds like you might be starting your colors much too light. Try making them a bit darker to start with.
Once the cakes start to fade &/or get dusty/dirty it's time to come up with new displays. Just scrape off the icing and start over on the same forms. (Mine lasted for up to 6 months.)
Also, you could try using acrylic paints for the color. Only problem w/that is trying to duplicate the results in food coloring.
