I have been asked to make a Coors Light bottle cap cake and I am a little unsure of how to get the ridges around the cake to where they look similiar to the image in this link.. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, what size cake should I make? any suggestions would be of great help!

Once you have the circle of fondant cut out, you could go over the outside edges with a popsicle stick a little. When you put it on the cake, pull out those areas and put tissue, tinfoil, somthing under the sides to keep it in shape until it dries. That's one idea, anyway. It looks really neat, please post a picture when you finish it!
The cake size you need depends on how many servings you need. You probably need a 10" round or larger to lower the height to width ratio for scale. Carve the cake so it tapers at the sides to get a flare.
To get the ridges, you can make sausages out of fondant and place them around the circumference before covering the cake. Then smooth the fondant around the sausages.
