Customer Doesn't Know What She Wants....

Do you all ever encounter people who don't really know what kind of design they are looking for? I had someone contact me for a wedding cake but she doesn't know what she wants. She kind of likes a cake she saw on a grocery store site but she is not sure. She thought I could help her decide. I e-mailed her some pictures of cakes I thought were pretty. I have only made one wedding cake before so she does not have a lot to choose from on my site.
I also told her she could google some wedding cakes and let me know if she sees anything she likes.
What do you think?
Thank you for any advice.
You did all you could. I have one lady who is religiously indecisive to the point of annoyance. Half the time I tell her I will just surprise her and she's ok with that. BUT, she orders a cake every month so I've gotten to know her style. The other times I just email her pictures till she picks one. I wouldn't tolerate it if she wasn't such a loyal customer, though. Good luck!
I had this problem a lot when I was in residential fixture sales. People would come in to pick out faucets, lights, hardware, etc for their houses and not have a clue what they wanted and couldn't tell me. Usually I could get an idea of what to offer and show them if I got a budget estimate, and maybe samples of carpet, paint, floorplan, etc. Maybe you could help her figure it out based on her other wedding details? Flowers/colors/dress/venue? I guess it depends on how much effort either one of you want to put into it really. Some people have no idea or want to build the whole thing around the cake so it might not help at all, hehe.
