I'm looking at edible ink printers.. I see several on Amazon and Ink 4 Cake that are Canon printers that seem to just come packaged with the edible ink.. is there anything special about the printer itself that makes it useful for cakes? Or can I simply go out and buy a Canon printer and then just buy the edible inks to use in it?

Thank you!!

You can buy any compatible printer and just put edible ink in it. No need to buy one prepackaged unless it is cheaper. The cannon printers out there are pretty cheap, it is the ink and cartridges that are expensive.

I have an MG5220 Canon printer that I bought at WalMart very cheap. I Love It!
I bought the ink cartridges and edible paper from Icingimages. I think they have superior products and excellant customer service.

Before you buy a printer, be sure you check if there are compatible edible ink cartridges you can purchase.
