Anybody do anything special for Mothers Day? For your amusement, I submit the following. The unfrosted ends are for the benefit of my frosting-challenged father.

That looks yummy! No baking for me- I smoked a prime rib and drank some brews. I did, however, pull part of a frozen cake out of the freezer for dessert.

HI, had a good mothers day. I ate with my dau. and family. I did cook pork chops and made a key lime pie. I did that especially for her and my grandson. They love key lime pie and my fired pork chops. It was easy to do. Hope everyone had a great day.

Glad you asked, cause I am bursting with news!!

I cooked dinner for my mother, who has lung cancer and spent the day with her. Made an apple pie. Then before the day was over, I got the best news ever.......my DIL told me she is pregnant!!
I have been waiting so long. My son is 39 and didn't want to have kids, and they are married 3 years. We never thought this would happen. They are both happy. And this was so wonderful for my mother!!

I lost my other son 12 years ago to suicide, so mother's day is a hard day for me. But I know he is happy for me and made sure that today, I had a good day. I know he'd be thrilled with his brother.

Hope you all had as great a day as I did. Happy Mother's Day to all! icon_eek.gificon_biggrin.gif

How did you keep it lit?

(Couldn't resist. But then again, I jump on straight lines that Groucho would have passed up.)

Thanks for the compliment. Duncan Hines "Swiss Chocolate" with "Classic Chocolate" canned frosting, decorated with cold-process buttercream (the powdered sugar box recipe, scaled down to 2 oz of powdered sugar), with one drop of McCormick red. The rose was copied freehand from line art downloaded from some sort of online coloring book. All with a Wilton #3 tip, on the corner of a zip-top bag.

Not exactly a Duff Goldman original, but it did impress my mother, when she got a look at it. Hopefully, she'll like it even more when she's had a chance to digest her dinner, and has a piece.

We also had a birthday for my son-in-law so I made a big chocolate cake covered with chocolate covered strawberries, his request.

I also had a daughter graduate, get this, high school (not GED, diploma) today, and she graduates at the very top of her class in beauty school in two weeks. It's never too late.

So I had a great day.
