Advice on substitute for a cake board

Hello,

I've been asked to make a cake for a friend for her sons 1st bday tomorrow (Mon 7th and she wants a number 1 shape. The only problem is that I don't have a rectangle cake board. I do however have an old box that one of my sons toys came in, which is the prefect size. What can I cover this in that's suitable for the cake to go straight on top? Or is there anything else I can use?

If I don't have the right size board I cut cardboard to the size I need and then cover it in silver foil.

I use foam core board all the time. Just cover with food safe paper and you can cut it to any shape or size with an exacto knife. I get it at Hobby Lobby, Michael's or Walmart. I think you may even find it at the Dollar Tree.

i have covered in tissue paper or scrapbook paper that matches the theme or colors then covered that with Plastic wrap to make food safe

Freezer paper-shiny side out- is quick and easy
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

I use plastic table covers all the time. They are really cheap and you can get about any color you need to match your cake.
