I have the FMM letter cutter but don't like it even when i let gumpaste dry a little it is still hard to get the letters off and i get an ugly edge on them. Does anyone have any other tool the use to cut out letters?
i use a toothpick and a small paintbrush. hth and i feel your pain...i used to spend way too much time trying to get the letters crisp...now i just roll out fondant/gumpast mix really super thin and let dry for 15-20 minutes then press my cutters into it really hard-seems to work. good luck
I use fondant with some tylose mixed in. I roll it pretty thin on the pasta machine and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Press the tappit into the fondant then "tap it" on the table and the letter will fall right out, crisp edges and all. good luck
I use fondant with tylo. Let it sit for about 10-15 min. I cut little squares just big enough for the cuter to fit on. I press onto the fondant, rub it back and forth on the table. At this time, all the excess should be completely off just leaving the "letter" in the cutter. Now you just give it a good "BANG" on the table and it will pop out nice and clean. No jagged edges!! If you have jagged edges, the fondant wasn't firm enough.
Hope this helps
