How soon is too soon?!??

Hi all,

I have a BIG babyshower on Sunday..Im actually making a table thats going to include 40 cupcakes, 20 cake pops, chocolates and a cake! I don't want to be overwhelmed on Saturday making everything the same day. How soon can I prepare the cupcakes, cake, and cake pops?? I dont want them to get dry and nasty....The cake pops will be covered in candy melts and the cake and cupcakes in fondant..Any suggestions will help!

start now - the fondant and chocolate will keep everything fresh!

Really???? OMG...I wish...but the fondant gets too hard doesn't it?? how about the candy melts on the cake pops? TY!!

I usually do all my baking 1-2 weeks in advance and freeze everything. I thaw everything in the fridge the day before I plan on decorating. I make cake pops several days in advance since the chocolate coating keeps everything quite fresh.
I usually frost my cupcakes 1-2 days in advance. I made my fondant cupcake toppers a week or two in advance and keep them in a covered container. Then I put them on the iced cupcake. I find that while they get "firm", you can easily bite into them. If you use gumpaste, then that will get very hard.
It's almost impossible to do everything on the day of the event - so don't stress yourself out - do a little bit each day. It will taste delicious!

I would do the cupcakes last (or bake and freeze and then decorate last) as they, with their enormous surface area, would just looove to dry out.

I finished the cake and Im going to freeze it, I also did the cake pops but I havnt dipped them yet...Should I?? Im going to take ur advice and do the cupcakes last...

Either dip them or wrap them tightly. They will dry out too otherwise.
