Shipping Cakes

Have any of you ever shipped a cake? Do you have any tips or tricks for make the cake arrive safely? If possible in one decorated piece...

My cousin would really love it if I sent his father a cake. I wouldn't consider this for anyone except family, due to the obvious perils the cake faces. However this presents a testing scenario for the future.

The following videos will help you:

A baker describes on the following video how she got started shipping cakes overseas to soldiers. She talks about how they modified their cake recipes for shipping safely and briefly demonstrates wrapping and packing the cake in the shipping box.
