I am a hobby baker and have had no formal training in the culinary arts. It is not my real job, but it is my passion. Even though I do not get paid for my work, I take great pains to produce the best cake that I can each and every time. I also hope to improve my skills each and every time. I have learned so much from books, personal experience, and you tube, but especially from the cake central forum. I am amazed at how generous the experienced and professional bakers are about sharing their hard earned tips and secrets at no benefit to themselves (and possibly to their detriment in that they are sharing secrets with the competition!). I have learned so much about technique, equipment, shortcuts, and general life philosophy from the ladies and gentlemen that share their wealth of knowledge with the up and comers. So THANK YOU for sharing.

I have been wanting to write the very same thing. It is so unbelievable how much I have learned from this site! People are very generous with their knowlege! So from another grateful member....THANK YOU!

This isn't the first time I've said thank you to everyone who runs and maintains this site and all the members, both professional and hobby bakers, who so generously share their knowledge and ideas, but it definitely bears repeating. I SO agree!! I have never taken any classes, but I've learned so much here and everyone is so quick to share their knowledge and expertise, it's like attending class everyday.
