Rice Crispie Treats and Buttercream Icing

Hi there,

I'm new to this websight, and I was looking for some information.

Does anyone know if you can use rice crispie treats to make a "hill" on a buttercream iced cake, and then ice the rice crispie treat itself with buttercream icing (and have it last)?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Yes you can. Just shape you rice crispy treats and cover in butter cream frosting. I use rice crispy treats for to form the heads on my dog cakes. I like to use a crusting butter cream frosting so I can smooth it out if I need to.

Can you put fondant over? do you still have to but frosting for the fondant to stick?

You can also used compressed cake. Just squish cake scraps down until the consistency of cookie dough...like for cake balls without added icing... and then shape accordingly and cover with buttercream. Much tastier than RCT's. I did this to make limbs at the base of a fairy house tree cake. It blended nicely and everyone was able to eat the entire cake.
