I am making my first wedding cake for a very close friend. The venue is about an hour away from my home and the thought of traveling with a four tier cake in my SUV is making me shiver. Anyhow, I figure the single plate system would be great, because I can decorate the cake and transport them as four seperate cakes and put them together at the venue...I am making a 14 inch, 12, 10, 8 and possibly 6 tier cake. I went to order it and, apparently, everything come seperately. I have been emailing the place (which is a very popular place, that I will not name) and they are trying to talk me out of it and not telling me what I need. They are telling me that my cake can slip off the plate and blah, blah. All I want to know is what support rods I need to go with what plates and what else I need to put this thing together...CAN ANYONE HELP ME???????

The SPS system by Bakery Crafts is all you need. Leah is the expert and has a tutorial on here. I have very little experience with stacked cakes and I did a 3 tier and it had to travel over 1 1/2 hsr away and very hill steep inclines. I found out they threw it in a box and heard it sliding around in the back...made it fully intact and unharmed.

Leah_s is a wonderful person!

This is where I got my sps system the first time. Since the www address is blocked, I'll spell it out with spaces in between:

fondant source dot c o m

go to the drop down menu and find Cake Display & Cake Stands (you'll have to hunt for it)

I always assemble my cakes (up to 4 tiers- that's all I can lift!) using SPS and load them in the back of my Tahoe. I make sure to set them on a non--skid shelf liner piece so they don't slip. And, yes, spend a lovely evening reading all hundreds of pages of Leah_S's tutorial! Very entertaining, if not educating icon_smile.gif
