My Cake And Should I Keep In Fridge Or Put On Counter?

Everyone has been given me good advice but I keep getting mixed up on if I should keep my cake on the fridge or keep it on the counter??? This cake is HUGE! There is no way I can cover it and I don't have any cake boxes.. I also have animals so don't really want to leave it out on the counter... BUT I am concerned with:
1. the icing getting too hard
2. the cake drying out (in the fridge)
Does everything soften after it's out of the fridge for a while? Or should I figure something out to take it out of the fridge tonight and leave it out on the counter???
Thanks for any advice!
By the way.. This is my first tiered cake so that is why i'm so worried about this!!
If it's b'cream it definately will soften once returned to room temp
The fondant dots might run as they sweat coming to room temp.
Can you put it on a high shelf - away from the pets? It doesn't have to go in the frig; it dosen't have to be frig'd. It will not dry out if frig'd overnight nor will it dry out if left out, uncovered at room temp
You could drape it w/a lg piece of lightweight plastic to help keep any animal hair off it.
Personally, I've always preferred my cake (including donuts) chilled anyway. And my frosting rather stiff. Probably because it's what I grew up on.
I always refrigerate my cakes and I have never had anyone complain about my cakes being dry. If you use a lot of butter in your frosting I would refrigerate the cake as butter softens and melts faster than shortening. I prefer my cake to be chilled as it makes it more stable for delivery.
