Silicone mold vs. stencil. Vintage Wedding Cake..? HELP ASAP

So my cousin asked me to do her wedding cake and it is a vintage theme and she was three of the tier to be covered in lace. She is ok with either a lace stenic using royal icing/buttercream or a silicone mold using fondant. Just need you opinion on which you think would be easiest for a first timer with either of these methods..

Lace Molds like this : http://decoratethecake.com/store/WsDefault.asp?Cat=LacePresses
-or-
Stencils like this : http://www.designerstencils.com/Alencon-Lace-Set-P12577_SKU_C370.aspx

Thanks in advance!

I've never used either one, but it seems like you're going to get a very different end product from those. I've used stencils with royal icing and you will have a beautiful pattern applied to the cake, and it will look lacey but not the same as if you are applying lace appliqu├ęs

The molds are very easy to use, a lot less stress for you.

I haven't tried stenciling yet, but I would think it would be faster. If you will have some time to practice, I would give it a few tries and keep the molds just in case. I say that because unless you buy a few molds of each, it will take a while to make each individual mold. Either way, I'm sure it will be beautiful. Best of luck to you!

I think the silicone molds will be easier. Dusting the silcone molds with super pearls makes the fondant shimmer. Stenciling takes more practice. You might want to check out Jennifer Dontz' DVDs for her pearl clay recipe for using in the molds.

I'm doing a lace cake for a friend using a combination of a rose mold, leaf cutter, and piped buttercream. I did a practice cake tonight and it turned out beautiful and was not all that difficult. Here is the cake by NadaG I'm using for inspiration.
