What would you charge for a large size cupcake (vanilla) with a simple swirl of icing, covering the entire cupcake??

You really want to price out what its going to cost you to make the cupcakes (materials, time). So then you will know what profit you will end up with.

I did that, but was given an odd look from my husband so I wanted to know if I was charging too much or not.

I charge anywhere between $1.25 up to $2.00 for a standard size cupcake. How much did you come up with that made your husband give you a weird look?

Well, how much is your cost? Don't forget overhead, at a minimum you'll have utilities and insurance, but some states also require a licensed and inspected commercial kitchen.

Your cost is $1.65 or would that be selling price?

Wow. I want to shop in your bakery! Here in Boston, most bakeries charge 3-4 dollars for a 1 flavor large cupcake, no decorations. I rarely buy cupcakes because of the cost.

That was my selling price. I was trying to give a 'deal'. I know I shouldn't do it, but I did icon_sad.gif I guess I was hoping to get more business from my hubbies work friends. I would still make approximately $35-40 on the 40 cupcakes. So it's not horrible.. is it?
