why does my swiss buttercream taste to buttery maybe I put to much butter and not enough of the flavor

Probably just not enough flavor... SMBC can take a lot of flavoring, so just add a little at a time until you get a taste you are happy with. For vanilla, I usually add 2-3 TBSP of pure extract per batch... other extracts I'm a little more cautious about and add maybe a tsp at a time...

It is a more buttery flavor than ABC. Did you use unsalted butter? Salted butter is a very bad idea with SMBC.

Higher quality butters also taste more like cream. Don't skimp here where the butter is front and center.

Happycake does what I do. Vanilla is the only flavor that you have to be careful with. Being heavy handed (I use homemade extract and vanilla bean paste) with the vanilla makes a great buttercream.
