Anyone Use Wiltons Spike Pillars?

I have a three tiered cake to make for a friend in September and I was considering using Wiltons clear spiked 9" pillars instead of the regular plates and pillars. The three tiered cake will be displayed on the stand over a fountain. Has anyone used the spike pillars or are they not very stable.
When you say "spiked" do you mean hidden pillars, where 1/2 to 3/4ths of the pillar is inserted into the cake and 1/3rd to 1/4th of it sticks out on top to hold a top plate only - followed by the cake. If so, yes, very secure.
Spiked pillars are the same as push-in pillars.
They work well in double-layer tiers... the only time I would never consider using them is in single-layer tiers.
Yrs ago I had a cake fall because of them
The clear ones have such a small end that everything rests on. Compare the clear and white spiked ones and you will easily see what I mean.
Definately use only if the cake is at least 4" tall or you can have major problems.
I'm talking about the 9" spiked pillars where you have 5 inches of pillar showing when assembled. I also found locking spiked pillars and plates has anyone tried those? They seem to be reasonably priced and with the locking mechanism it sounds like they might be an option. Thanks everyone for you advice it's greatly appreciated. http://www.countrykitchensa.com/shop/cake-decorating-supplies/plates-with-locking-pillars-white-and/38/537/1176/
Here is another option I was looking at. Wondering if anyone has tried this brand. http://www.countrykitchensa.com/shop/cake-decorating-supplies/clear-fashion-pillars-w-adjustable-ring/38/537/1171/626781/
