I have been sending extra cupcakes to my husbands work and his boss is in love with them. Says it more of a love hate because he loves them, but hates that he can't stop eating them. icon_wink.gif His boss is putting on his second annual black tie fund raiser for African aid in efforts like clean water etc. Last year there were 500 people. This year he is expanding to 500 presold tickets and 100 at the door. Anyways long question shortened, how many cupcakes should I do?

Anyone? I have done weddings, but never a fund raiser.

I guess it would probably depend on whether they are serving other food as well. If there is going to be other food, you probably wouldn't need as many as if it were the only thing being served. Not everyone will probably eat cupcakes, so I would think for 600 people I would do at the very least 400 (about 2/3's) maybe at little less if other food is being served as well. Cupcakes are all the rave right now, so it is really hard to estimate. I'm just guessing here though. Sorry I turned into a fence sitter here...I was just trying to help out. LOL.

Are they going to be mini, regular or jumbo? At a minimum I would do enough for everyone to have one, realizing that some won't eat any, and others will have a few. This might not hold exactly true if you are going to do jumbos, but minis I would venture to say you'll need more.

This is actually an odd question. If your husband's boss is the client, didn't he tell you how many cupcakes he wants?

We can't help without more information. Will the fund-raiser be a sit-down dinner or a buffet? IF a buffet, will there be other desserts? Will the venue for the event allow you to provide food prepared in your kitchen/establishment? Are you donating the cupcakes? Will the attendees purchase the cupcakes (with the proceeds going to the charity)?

Just curious, have you ever attempted 400-500 cupcakes for a single event? Simple logistics are huge with an order that large.

If it is to be the dessert, as that is what will save money for the client (more to the charity), I do one per person.

I also do it at no charge.

If there are some left over, I encourage them to take them home.
