Hello! I have a cake due on Saturday and I put an 8 by 3 round cake, with a flower nail in the middle, in the oven about an hour ago. It is a marble WASC. the cake is definitely done on the sides an underdone in the middle. I am not sure whatexactly happened. I usually bake in pans that are 2" height not 3." Could it be that I filled it up too much? I usually bake my WASCs at 300 for 20 min and then raise it to 325 until is done but I didn't realize this time that it was at 330 not 300. Also, I was in a hurry and distracted so I put my cake on a higher rack than usual. WHich one do you was my mistake? I need to rebake again and I do not have time to waist. Thanks!

Sounds like too much batter. Cut the top off and see if it feels underdone in the middle. If so you'll have to bake again. HTH

Thanks! The weird thing is that I kept on baking the cake aand nd lowered the temp to 300 and everything cooked. The sides don't seem to be burnt or over cooked. I couldn't check very well because the cake was still very warm and I had to leave the house. I wrapped everything in Satan wrap and left. A very small piece of the cake got stuck at yhe bottom of the pan and I tasted it and it seems to be fine. Also, I cut the top off after it was done (to level it) and it seemed fine. I will have to check when I get back home tonight. Fingers crossed!
