Hello all,
I am hoping you can all help me, I am in search of a new turntable. The one I currently have is so wobbly that it is hard to get a smooth even frosting. I am hoping that you can all give me suggestions on what you have and what you like. I have to order online and would hate to get one and find the same problem.
Thank you all for your help,
Angela
I have several different ones. Wilton has a plastic turntable that does not wobble. You can get it at craft stores like Michaels and Hobby Lobby with their coupons. If you are looking for one that holds more weight then the metal one Ateco has is good.
to make your life easier, get a heavy metal turntable with a ball-bearing construction. It allows for smoother turning without having to keep providing momentum. I have the Ateco with the spike on the bottom of the turntable and I can not get one full rotation under without stopping. Makes it pretty annoying trying to get a smooth finish with the starting and stopping.
Don't think you'll be trying this, but I use an old lazy susan that I had in my cabinet. If I want to raise the cake up I put a mesh plastic drawer liner in the center of it and then put a cake pedestal on top of that so it doesn't move. Stick another bit of plastic liner for under the cake board and voila! An extremely low tech turntable!
