Thread Starter
I am making a cake with a Mahi Mahi jumping off the cake. Or hoping too! Any advice on how to 1. Make the fish Mahi Mahi's are very colorful... Thought about making it out of rice krispies? And not sure how to color the fondant I cover it with??? And 2. How to get or have the fish jumping off the cake? Or look like it is.... icon_biggrin.gif Thanks for any help or suggestions you have!! icon_biggrin.gif

This sounds like a job for airbrushing or at least hand-painting your fish with vegetable colors. You can dissolve your colors in a little vodka or Everclear and use them like watercolors to get the effect you want (you might want to play around with this beforehand). I don't know how big your fish is going to be, but you might want to make it out of gumpaste, unless you have a knack getting your RKT really compact. The best way to get it to stand up on the cake is to put a long. sturdy skewer or dowel in it to stick in the cake. You might just leave the tip of the tail in the water, so the dowel won't be visible. It will be spectacular no matter!
