It started out lumpy so I added one more drop of vodka and now it's streaking.

I think if you are not using a high-grain or high proof vodka that could effect the consistency of the "paint". Try adding a little more gold dust- mix well

Good luck

You're not doing anything wrong. Maintaining the proper consistency is an ongoing process. Once you find the right workable consistency, you'll have to continue to add more vodka as it evaporates.

If you're mixture is too thin, add a little more dust or just wait a few minutes for the vodka to evaporate.

Remember that when you've finished your project and let all the alcohol totally evaporate, you can save your leftover dust.

It sounds like you went from too thick to too thin....like DianeLM said...if too thin add more dust, if too thick add a drop of alcoho or just let it sit for a few minutes checking it for consistancy every few secondsl...I like Everclear for this because it does evaporate very fast but I have to continually keep rehydrating my dust as well....
