Fondant Cupcake Toppers...how Long Will They Last?
Decorating By socosweets Updated 8 Apr 2012 , 8:57pm by socosweets
I had to make 36 Perry the Platypus cupcake toppers out of fondant for cupcakes that were to be picked up tomorrow morning. I made all the toppers this morning and then the customer emailed me asking to change the date to next Saturday because she had to reschedule the party due to her son having pink eye. Will all these fondant toppers still be good to use for next Saturday? Should I keep them in a container to keep them moist?
I appreciate any help/advice!! I hope I dont have to make all those all over again!!
They will be fine for several weeks. You can stored them in a box until you need them. They need to be covered to keep dust off, but not airtight unless you want them to be soft.
Thank you for responding! Thats great to know that I wont need to spend a couple hours re-doing these
I started making toppers in January for an April wedding.
Don't store them in an airtight container as they wilt more than you want them to. If you haven't mixed in tylose or gumpaste, they'll be soft enough to eat even at their firmest.
no I didnt mix in anything they are just plain satin fondant! Thank you for the tip and I will remove them from the airtight container
I had some that didn't last but one day. I made the little flowers with the two sided mold and some butterflies. They were chocolate swirl. I went back to them and all but a few were gone and a few were on the floor. I couldn't figure out what happened to them. Finallt we asked my three year old grandson if he knew what happened to the flowers. He told us he ate them. They were just for practice.
I use Fondarific and it will stay edible indefinitely because it doesn't get hard.
Awwww at least he was honest So far they are still soft and our weather is suppose to be nice so Im hoping Ill be good for a few more days!
