About a week or so ago, I saw and commented on a cupcake photo that was in the "Favorite Cakes Today" line on the Home Page. It was a buttercream cupcake with a purple fondant flower.

The purple fondant flower was made with a 5 petal rose cutter that the decorator ruffled (without cutting any of the petals), then pushed the center down with a ball tool and put in something that looked like a fondant ball or a Sixlet candy.

The decorator had a second photo showing the tools she used. She hand formed the ruffled edges and made the fondant flower and put one on each cupcake.

I have no idea if there is any way to search comments that I made on the photo, and I've looked in all my forum posts, old email etc. and can't find it.

Is it possible the OP withdrew the photo? I seem to have lost several things I've saved over the years - when I go back to hlook for them, they're just not there anymore. It's happened so often that when I save a cake because I'm thinking of using some of the design for inspiration, I save it somewhere else, like in a Word document. No consolation for this particular loss, I know, and there's really no way to do the search you'd like. If it was in the last week, maybe it's still WAY down in the "Newest Cakes" pile.

Thanks for the thought, Marianna46.

I think I got most of it from memory, fortunately! She used the smaller 5 petal rose cutter, then had a round veiner with a bump in the center that she purchased in England "some time ago". I made a practice one last night and it wasn't as cute as hers, but not too bad.

Ahhh well, just thought I'd give it a try with a post. I started to search "most saved", but there are 1000's of entries.

Have a wonderful Easter!

I found it! I recognized the decorator's work on another pic on the Home page. It is ShamsD.

Here's the link to her gorgeous cupcakes:

Take a look at her Flickr page and you'll just shake your head in wonder.

When I tried to do it from memory, I forgot there were 2 flowers stacked, and forgot about painting the white centers. Dang......just when ya think you've got it from looking at a photo.....

I have the cutters already. I found this plate and will try to use it to be a veiner like the one she had in her photo. I'm also going to try using the new Wilton Flower Impression Mat (using the delicate veiner that is kinda square shaped with veins radiating out from the center):

I did an extensive search and wasn't able to find a round veiner like the one shown in her photo.

This looks like something that would be a great addition to anybody's flower-making arsenal. Thanks for the link. So, how soon will you be posting your own cupcakes?

Hey! I'm a hobby baker.....I think about stuff for months before I actually get around to it! (Mostly because I have cake stuff all over my working surfaces.....)

Right now I'm whittling down my latest project, which is making homemade cupcake tiered stands. I got brave and volunteered to do my first demonstration at the San Diego Cake Club on May 7. Gulp.....

One of the threads on the Wilton forum provided this link on how to make these super cool, super cheap, stands. I hit about 5 thrift stores and bought enough junk, er, recyclable goblets and plates, to make about 15 stands. I'm going to put them all together and then draw names and give the winners each a stand after the demonstration.

Hi, you could make this same flower with modeling chocoate. Make it the same way as she is showing, veiner, tool, everything . Then you could just bite right down through flower and all. So good!!

icer101~~Do you have any photos of modeling chocolate flowers, leaves made with double-sided veiners? That's what I'd REALLY like to make, since you can eat 'em!

I looked at some of your photos and saw the parrot tulip on the Twilight cake:

That parrot tulip is GORGEOUS!!! Did you use Roselle's veiner/cutters? Could you make that same flower out of modeling chocolate?
