I got an order for a cross shaped cake for a communion with whipped cream to feed 50-60 people. Do I make a cross shaped pan cake and put it on top of a half sheet? If so, how many people would that feed and how many layers would the half sheet be?

A 1/2 sheet cake(11x15) should feed 60 plus, especially if filled with BC or other filling. You are going to end up with a lot of cake by doing a 1/2 sheet and a cross cake on top.
Have you considered making a sheet cake and cutting it to a cross? That may work out better.

I hope this works, but have you seen this cake? I am sure this would feed nearly that but not really sure:

Dang! That's the most incredible cross cake I've ever seen! Thanks for posting the link.

You are welcome! I think it is very amazing myself. icon_smile.gif And I don't know the person who did it, but I love that cake!
