Best thing to use to make edible bunting

My friend has asked me to make her 30th birthday cake it will be an 8 cake with buttercream but she wants it decorated with bunting. We have to finalise the exact detail but she is thinking of a string of bunting piled in the middle of the cake with each triangle about 2.5 long. What would I be best using to make the bunting fondant/flowerpaste/something else? I imagine some of the pieces will be flat but not necessarily resting on the cake and other pieces would be crumpled like when you are putting it up but it has fallen in a bundle on the floor

Sorry if that is not explained very well and I know it is a very basic question but any advice would be greatly appreciated. Ive only made a very simple sheet cake before when I had been asked to make a cake by someone so am nervous about this!

Hi Jennifer, personally I think I would try to use mainly fondant and mix in a small amount of flowerpaste - at least then it would be palatable and stay a bit firmer. If you just use flowerpaste on its own this will dry hard and is not very nice to eat. Another idea (which I have not tried) maybe you could cut up a patterned sugarsheet into bunting, you may have to stick two together pattern side out. HTH thumbs_up.gif
