I have tried and tried to do the scroll numbers on cakes but for some reason I cannot get them as pretty as some of the numbers I see on other cakes.. is there a trick to this? a template? What do you use to make them? gumpaste?
I am practicing away on a ton of things for future knowledge so any help would be great! TY!
I like the Tappits Funky numbers:

Do you mean the whimsical numbers which you can have standing up on the cake? I too would like to know about those, I need to do a number 5.
Those letters are great! I actually went ahead and ordered them lol
I was really looking for more of the 3 inch standing numbers, do you have any tips on how to make those?
I haven't done them, but looking at them,
I'd run off a template the size I need, put it under some saran wrap or acetate, add some tylose to fondant, roll out a continuous snake, bend it along the lines of the template, gently taper the ends, insert several supports, allow to dry for several days.
Maybe someone who's done them will chime in.

I was hoping someone that has done them would chime in but.. lol
I think I will try the tylose though... that hopefully will work.. what do you think about half fondant half gumpaste? do you think that would hold up?
I consider my fondant with tylose added to be pretty much the equivalent of gum paste.
I think if I were mixing gum paste & fondant for something like this, I'd want 2/3 gum paste & 1/3 fondant.
