I just forwarded the link to all of my friends and family that sew, knit, and crochet!! IF we all do this I bet we could almost double the 5,000 for this cause! Wouldn't that be great!!!! Just wanted to share.

Are you making these for the Blankets for the Gulf or are you making these for some Katrina survivors in your area? I had also thought about doing it for here in East Texas, we still have over 90 families at our convention center.

Thanks for sharing. I have a hand knitted blanket that is brand new. I made it and decided I no longer liked the color and it didn't match. (typical me!) So I'll donate it.

Thank you for the link. I had been staring at my yarn thinking "what could I do to help?" I'm a beginner at knitting but I'll ask if they accept scarfs or purses too.

I just wanted to say what a great thing everyone is doing to help Katrina victims. I hope you don't think I'm being negative when I say this. Please be careful when giving your money & hard earned personal things to the disaster relief. There are a lot of people making a killing off of this tragedy. They are taking good peoples money & not using it for the relief but for their own pockets. The local news had several reports about this kind of thing just tonight. It's sad but it's happening! Especially here in Louisiana. Please call the Better Business Bureau before you give to anything. Just to be safe.

There's GREAT people on CC & I don't want ya'll to get had. icon_smile.gif

There ws a supposed church group in Lindale collecting money for either their church or the hurricane vics (depended on which one you talked to) at an intersection, right after the hurricane hit. When they were questioned further by the news crew, they left. Also there was a news report about a website that was not an official Red Cross website (but sure looked like one), once donators sent there CC number (which went to the scam artists, it redirected you to the real RC site. Sure makes me angry that some lowlifes do this.

I agree Mac! That is very sad! Look at all the businesses that have made money off of 9/11. Especially the tshirts, bears, license plates, ribbons etc. I would really like to know IF the money being made is going to the people that need help. We never know do we? How sad~

It is sad. There's been a few stories on the local news here about scammers.

With all the money that's been donated to the Red Cross, in the millions by some celebrities alone, isn't that enough to get the displaced families/individuals into a rental home, apartment, hotel, etc., even if temporary to get them back on their feet?? I don't understand but I hope that is what's happening.

From what I understand (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), the Red Cross can only help with food and clothing, they do not help with finances. I know when my sister lost her house to a fire, they only received food and clothing from the Red Cross but I thought that was because it wasn't a big disaster that affected alot of people.

Hello all - I just wanted to thank you for your support. I've had a lot of traffic from your site to mine. I hope some of you are knitting/crocheting/quilting/sewing!

I've been very excited about the response to this project -- people from all over the U.S. have been emailing me and many yarn stores across the nation are being very supportive. We were even mentioned on Good Morning America on 9/22 -- woo hoo!

Again - thank you for helping to spread the word.
