I'm so frustrated, It would appear that 90% of cake businesses in the UK don't give a hoot about copywrite laws. There was a thread on a FB cake page yesterday where the general consensus was "Oh no-one pays attention to that".
I was only one of two dissenters who flat refuse to do themed cakes. It's almost impossible to compete when nearly everyone else is breaking the law! Don't get me wrong, I'm not softening my position. I turn cakes away. But it's not fair that everyone else is being so naughty! (Stamping my feet!)
There just doesn't seem to be any deterrent over here- people aren't held accountable, so they just crack on.
I've resolved to focus more on weddings to keep me out of the situation, but as a recently relocated business trying to establish myself, it's very slow if i have to keep turning down kids cakes etc because they want Peppa Pig and won't go for the figurine options.
Rant over. Any advise?
