Hi there,

I'm making ChrisJack's layered petal cake on a BC cake instead of fondant.

http://cakecentral.com/tutorial/petal-cake

I plan on attaching the petals with gum glue. But my biggest question is about my flower. I made my flower out of gumpaste and I'm so scared it's going to break when I stick it on the cake. Not sure what to stick it on with without it falling off. Should I use a big blob of BC and press?

I'm attaching a picture of my flower.

My friend I'm making the cake for has to drive it for an hour. I just don't want the flower to fall off. icon_eek.gif

I would appreciate any advice.

Thank you!
LL

I just made a petal cake on BC and placed a Gumpaste/Fondant flower on the front. I used a toothpick and dipped it into gumpaste then inserted it into the back of the flower, then poked it into the cake at at 45 degree(ish) angle. I also put a dab of BC on the back to help it stick. It traveled for about 40 minutes in the car and did just fine. HTH.

Okay, I made another gumpaste flower and this time stuck a toothpick in it with a little gum glue. I think it will work. Will let you know how it comes out. Thank you for your advice!!

if you used melted chocolate you don't have to worry about someone eating a toothpick

I don't think melted chocolate will work on buttercream, probably just melt the buttercream. I think the toothpick will work best.
