Hi all!
While I have been a fan of this site for some time, I guess I never signed up to be a member until today. Several weeks and maybe a month ago, I saw someone post about an online cake class you could take it was populated with videos and class projects and I believe was $30 annually to have access to the website. I would like to join one, but not sure if any of you have experience or exposure to online classes and think it would be beneficial or not. Let me know your thoughts.

I just joined cakeschool.com after being tempted by it for months. It was $30 for 1 year Ive just finished watching a video tutorial, it was impressive. Very very impressed with the video tutorial I watched. She explained everything in details and why she does it. I'm still a noob to the site but so far I am happy I signed up.

I am going on my second year of membership with mycakeschool.com. I love the site and the videos are very informative. They respond very quickly to inquiries and monitor their forums regularly. I don't have the time to practice the techniques but I know I will be able to go back to it when I am ready.

I have no regrets at all icon_smile.gif

Just an update to the mycakeschool.com comment I posted a little while ago. I've just watched a couple more videos and read some comments. I definitely recommend it. She posts lessons for beginners and advance, but she does her lessons so well pretty much anyone can follow along.
I've just been learning how to make a Topsy turvy cake (which i have due this weekend and have been nervous about). And I feel like i could just take my laptop in the kitchen and watch the video as I make the cake and make it well!

I highly recommend the site

I am also on my second year of membership and Melissa is a good teacher...And I think $30. a year is very cheap. Can't go wrong...Take one class, only one, and you will pay more than $30.What I like is you can watch the tutorials whenever you want. She also gives you the tricks of the trade. You can learn from basic to more elaborate and anybody can learn.
Good job Melissa

I'm a member of Pretty Witty Cakes.  Suzi and the team are amazing at showing you how to decorate cakes, model, make gum paste flowers, cookies, cupcakes, free from, etc.  It costs just $50 a year, which is so well worth it (you can even pay monthly!).  Suzi and her team are so helpful, and new videos are going up  all the time.  I'd really recommend it.

mycakeschool.com is great.  She does alot of buttercream which I like.  She tries to use things you might have without buying something everytime you make something.  She also is not hung up on the idea that every thing you use has to be edible.  She just did a caste cake that was great.  I love the site. $30 a year is a steal.

You're right, $30 isn't a lot.  Pretty Witty Cakes is only $50 too, which makes them both totally affordable!

I love both of these sites, and they both have really great ways of teaching.  They both make it look really easy (which helps my confidence ;).

They do different things.  I've been learning to make cakes, etc and even croissants and breads on the Pretty Witty site.  Worth checking out if you're curious, it's very affordable.

Cake Decorating Manufacturers PME have introduced a new range of 'CakeIt' Online Courses with equipment kits that teach you new skills and techniques by watching step-by-step videos and also following downloadable course materials.

I found myself able to prepare, decorate, carve and model sugarpaste/fondant in a week by creating various designs. I could not believe how much you can learn online and how easy it had been using CakeIt, especially as you get essential tools, equipment and cutters for the online course.

Check it out : www.icakeit.com

Its a bit different to designer-cakes.co.uk and other websites because you get an equipment kit with the course as well. Its fantastic!

AI. Have been a member for awhile. I love Melissa's videos, so easy to follow and really takes time to explain things in easy to understand way. Really worth the $30 a year which is very cheap for the help, ideas and advice given.
