I have been asked to do Fenway Park. I found this cake and wanted to know, what pan sizes do you think they used? And then do you just carve it down?
Thanks

I would think it would depend on how much cake you need. You could do that with anything from a 10" to 18". I would try PMing the poster and ask what size they used.

In addition to the base cake(s), I would bake a couple more to carve for the stands.

I made the Yankee Stadium last year when I was a beginner..man that was a nightmare. I had it in my gallery, but I wasn't proud of the crookedness, so I took it down. I baked 9 12x18 pans and cut out pieces and stacked them to make the shape, the center was hollow and I put in the grassy field part with green buttercream and a grass tip. My cake was supposed to feed 200 people though, it was massive. I used large sprinkles for the audience, I applied them with piping gel. My biggest issue was the two tiered stands, I wanted the space between the tiers for a realistic look, (because I was crazy). So I had to design a wooden base to support the top cake. Looking back, I would never ever had done that, it made the cake look crooked because the outer walls weren't straight when I applied fondant. (in my defence, it was only my 5th cake)
But I would suggest stacking pieces in the outer part, rather then carving out a giant hole, unless you are cool with wasting a lot of cake....

Here's my pics: the first shows how I pieced the cake together in the right shape, then you can see the whole cake and the inner field.
