sounds like it wasn't done. You may want to put a nail in it. that or carve it

How bad? Is it a little dip or a BIG hole?
I agree - sounds like it wasn't completely baked before you took it out of the oven. And what recipe did you use? Box or scratch? Any chance you have a pic of what i t looks like? That might help us figure out what's going on.

it was just a box mix. how would you put a nail in a hemisphere pan? im baking another one now with a bake even strip around it so the outside won't cook so fast. this time. sorry i didn't take a picture. but it was a big dip in the center. hopefully the strip will work.. if not then tomorrow i will just bake regular layers and carve it

I don't have the hemisphere pan but I would imagine taht you do it the same as you would any other pan. Grease the pan and nail, place the nail in the pain (head on the bottom of the pan), hold it still while you pour batter around it and into the pan. When it is done baking the nail head should be on the top of the cake after removing from the pan.

if you put a nail in the pan there is no flat surface for it to sit on. i feel like the nail would cause a whole in the dome part of the cake

Oh, I didn't thank about that... I would probably try a lower temperature for a longer time then... that or stack and carve sheet cakes

Your cake came out beautiful!!! Nice work. How did you make the cupcakes into roses like that? I love how that looks.

use a wilton 1M tip or something similar. start in the center of the cupcake and swirl outward
