How far in advance can you make gumpaste decorations? My designs are most likey gonna be 2D, nothing sculpted. The cake is due May 12 so just wanna know how early I can create them to give me more time for the cake.

You can start making them now. After they have dried store them in a box until you are ready to use them. If I am making people figures for the top of a cake, I often have them skewered to the top of a dummy and cover them over with a clean cloth.

Hi, I am a hobby baker, and work as a pa in my full time job so I always like to do all my gum paste decorations well ahead of the time that I will be using them, I am making fifty yellow roses to go onto a wedding cake for beginning of July at the moment, I keep them laying on some tissue paper on apple trays (which I get for free from my local supermarket) in cardboard boxes with lids. I am sure that gumpaste decorations keep very well for probably at least up to a year as long as they are kept in a cool place. thumbs_up.gif
