I've tried both. While I liked Satin Ice the smell (smells like play dough to me) turns me off. Need to order some fondant. What other average priced brand would you recommend?

I tried looking thru past threads for fondants but most say satin ice.

I 2nd FondX, NuWrap is pretty good too, but a little softer.

I think I've almost tried them all! Duff's fondant tastes really good, but it's a little on the expensive side. I've also used Fondarific and it was okay. I think my favorite is Satin ice for store-bought fondant. Have you ever thought of making your own MMF? It's taste so much better and works out to be much much cheaper

I used to be a solely Satin Ice user but had gotten a couple batches that I just wasn't happy with. I then tried Fondx Elite and really liked it and a little goes a long way, however, it is expensive. When it was time to restock on white bc flavored fondant, I decided to try the regular Fondx and LOVED IT!! It's easier to roll and can be rolled thinner than SI and doesn't dry out too fast so no elephant skin. I had a brain cramp recently and decided to give Fondarrific a try and hated it -- gets too soft too quick and becomes hard to work with. So I'm going back to Fondx. Hope this helps!

I used to make Michelle Foster's fondant, before I had tried FondX. I loved the taste of the homemade, but I'm just too busy to take the time to make it. I've also found that homemade is not quite as flexible and strong as commercial and it would take me more tie to cover cakes with it.

I do like mixing MFF with commercial, to retain the taste but give it some strength. I just find it more economical, business wise, to purchase. Time is money.

Have you considered putting a flavor in it. I used to buy all my fondant, now I make my own. I take one day that I make fondant and I put flavors into them. But I use to do this with the ready to use fondant as well.

Fondx. Absolutely love it. I tried Satin Ice for a three tiered wedding cake and it was horrible. I ordered Fondx for a nine tier cake and it was a dream. I have never covered that many cakes that fast. I ordered from Fondantsource.
