What do you thin gumpaste flower petals out on? I always see people using foam. Is this a certain one like a celpad or something? Or foam from a craft store?

I tried thinning petals out on my counter and it did not work AT ALL!

Thanks for your help

If you live near a Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, or Michaels, they usually carry a line of cake decorating supplies, including a small selection of gumpaste supplies.
They sell a thick piece of pink sponge, it comes in @ a 4 x 4 inch square, and it's about an inch thick... and, it has a piece of foam core that goes with it...which is usually measured in milimeters.
I bought a 12 x 12 inch piece of foam core, in the craft section, so that I could have a larger piece to work with!

if you're making gumpaste flowers, I think the pink square cel pad invaluable for all flowers!! I have several of them!! I also can't make flowers without something called the "mexican foam pad", it comes in a few different shapes, and it's invaluable!!

Hope that helps!! good luck! ~cindy

You can get a little set of gumpaste pads from Wilton. It has a thin pink square and a slightly thicker purple square. They don't have the sponge one anymore, I don't think. Anyhow, the thin pink pad in that set is the one I use 99% of the time.
