Any help would be great! I have searched and searched for a tutorial and all I have come up with are ones for swags, they are great, but I need to know how to do vertical drapes along the sides of my cake. I have tried, by trial and BIG error LOL. My fondant wouldn't hold the shape (too soft maybe??) I have an idea in my head and it won't be still so If anyone could help me I would be so greatful.

Like the bottom tier of the wedding cake "Diane" in my cake photos? I measured the circumference of the bottom tier, and determined how many panels I would need. Then I made myself a template out of a piece of stencil plastic and cut each panel out. Then gently folded one edge under, leaving the folded edge rounded so as to not cause the edge to split or crack, and them attached each panel using water. I used fondant with gumpaste, 50/50. It does take a little bit of time, and I actually got pretty good at cutting large strips and then cutting the individual pieces out of that and making about 10 panels at a time. I was really pleased with the end results. Also, you could impress a pattern onto the fondant before you cut out the panels.
Hope that helps.
