Any Suggestions On Making Burnt Wood For A Campfire Cake?

I am making a campfire cake and was wondering if anyone had tips on making the wood look black and burnt.
Hi!
If you're using buttercream: cover the area in chocolate buttercream and run a fork or ribber through it so it has a jagged look, then sprinkle it with oreo cookie crums. I've done this for 'dirt roads' and it might work for wood.
If you're using fondant: streak brown, dark brown and black fondant ropes together (roll them out like a rope and lay then next to each other, then roll them together with a rolling pin). This gives the wood grain look. You could probably youtube a tutorial on that.
Have an airbrush gun? This would work the best for a natural burnt look.
Good luck!
