I am looking for a recipe that gives the cupcakes a high dome rather then flat top (preferably vanilla)

I usually get a flat top, but I made red velvet last night and got huge domes...wondering how to do that with my vanilla b/c I'd like to decorate them with fondant.

Does anyone know how to get the dome or if it is the recipe that does it?

It has more to do with temperature than recipe usually. Try putting in oven at 400 and then after 5 minutes reduce heat to 350. That should help.
There are a couple of threads about it. Look at a couple of those for some more info.

I heat the oven to 400F place cupcakes in for 5 minutes then turn the oven down to 350F. I also try to put the cupcake pans filled in the refrigerator for 20 minutes before I put them in the oven,

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the thread! I actually used a different oven last night and that's probably why I got the domes! The oven was really old and the whole thing was super hot -so I'm sure the heat is off and it was probably higher.....

But since I'm doing an embossed fondant I want the domes in this case! Thanks again!
