I have a cake board I covered in Fondant. How do I keep it clean while I ice my cake w/ buttercream? Any tips? The fondant has not dried yet. It is however pretty much the same color as the buttercream.

Thanks!

Put the cake on a smaller board. Ice with buttercream, then put the cake (board and all) onto your fondant covered board, then pipe the border on the cake.

I am glad you asked cause i wasn't sure of the proper technique here either. i have done that once using a board on the fondant, but wasn't sure if that is how everyone else did it. i don't typically cover board with fondant but they always look so awesome!

You can also line the board (just the parts that the cake isn't sitting on) with plastic wrap and after applying the buttercream or ganache, let it harden in the fridge, then pull away the plastic when you're done!

This is the way I do it and the board stays clean!!
