Hello!

I'm making a tiered cake for 50-70 servings. It's for a ten year anniversary party. I'm going to make the sunflowers out of gum paste/fondant and I'm going to attempt to also make a barbed wire border too for a rustic look. If that doesn't work out for me, I'll just use ribbon. icon_smile.gif

Question is, what size tiers do I need so as to allow room for the sunflowers at each layer? I like the idea of a square bottom and the second and top layers being round. I'll probably have more cake than I need, but my main concern is what size combo to use. 6" and 8" round with 10" bottom square? Or do I need my tiers further apart?

Any suggestions would be truly appreciated. I'm flexible and open to ideas.

A 10" square serves 50 by itself. A 7" round serves 19... that's 69 servings total with plenty of room for flowers.

Hi, your sizes are good and would give you 76 portions. But when I do tiered cakes, I like to keep 3" difference between tiers. So I would go for all round cakes, 11"/8" and 5". And it will give you exactly 70 portions. icon_smile.gif
