I am making my own wedding cake in June and i would like to make the cake topper but i have never done it before. do i make them completely out of modelling paste? how far in advance can i start these? how do i store and any other information that you feel i need to know

Please google , how to make a gumpaste/fondant bride and groom wedding cake topper and you will learn so much. You can make anything like this way, way , in advance and store it(after it dries really good) . Just keep a paper towel , etc. over it. Store it in a drawer, etc. This is what i do. There is a country wedding cake in my pics some times back, that i made, If you like to do this kind of thing, it won,t be hard. hth

I usually make my figures from fondant with Tylose powder added. I find it easier to work with then 100% gumpaste. I agree google for tutorials and also a good source of information is polymer clay books. Have you modeled figures before? When I started I purchased "How to make Clay Characters" by Maureen Carlson. Great information that you can convert into modeling with fondant or gumpaste. The figures can be made months ahead of time, just store them in a dry area out of the sun to prevent fading.
