I making a topsy turvy and need a good chocolate AND vanilla recipe that is sturdy and easy to carve. I have learned from the past that the recipes i have tried broke in half. 
It also needs to taste GREAT ! Thanks so much !

I've had a lot of success with this one. And have swapped out chocolate mix and pudding with the same results. http://cakecentral.com/recipe/durable-cake-for-3d-and-wedding-cakes
If you bake from scratch, I've had good luck with cream cheese pound cake - recipe is on here but don't have it right now.
