RKT

when working with rkt do make the rkt and put in the fridge to get hard and then work with It or should i work with right afther i make then am making a 3D GIRAFFE

RKT is much easier to work with while it is still warm. I ususally press it into the basic shape immediately after it is mixed, that way I can really compress it so there are no loose bits to interfere with covering it. I even re-warm it in the microwave if it gets too cold to work with easily. Once I have the basic shape, I let it cool and harden. At that point I use a very sharp knife to shave down any wayward bits and use modeling chocolate or candy clay to to build up smaller details that the RKT can't be used for. After all of the small details are built up, I chill it a bit in the fridge, then I cover my RKT sculpture in the final medium--usually candy clay, modeling chocolate, fondant, gumpaste, or a mixtue of the above depending on the final effect I am going for. I make the RKT, coat my hands in shortening, sculpt my object, and then brush it immediately with melted chocolate and refrigerate- that way it WONT lose it's shape or fall apart.
I've learned so much from my mistakes..... I'm thinking of making a few more!

I use the generic store bought RKTs and they work great for modeling. And no mess to clean upicon_smile.gif
