Help!!! I'm not good at baking. I decorate. Im trying to learn how to make home made scratch cake
I am using a better whitescratch cake by Edencakes and followed the recipe to a T only changing flavoring to half vanilla and half butter flavor. The batter is super runny with millions of little white lumps. I'm guessing shortning. What could I have done wrong???????
Sorry don't know how to post from this new phone. If you go to recipes the click on most populate our most saved it is there about half way down titled " a better white scratch cake"
It's possible that the little lumps is flour. That will happen sometimes if you don't sift the flour. But all is not lost...just put the batter through a fine sieve or strainer and stir the batter and scrape the bottom as it goes through. That should get rid of the little lumps. You can also pickup some of the lumps using a spoon and rub them through your fingers and see if it is shortening.
Hope that helps
Pam
