Hi everyone I'm so excited to share some news with you! I'm transitioning into an agreement to buy into an already existing bakery. They have been around 25-30 years and have always done very well. I'm thrilled to be able to grow this business further with my skill at marketing and my ability to design cakes. I'm going to have lots of questions from you seasoned owners over the next few months so I hope I can count on your advise. If you are an owner please keep an eye on this topic I would love your input. Thanks in advance

Kristin

I hope you have taken business management classes. It's a big difference from doing cakes at home to running a bakery - especially one that has a 'track record'.

Congratulation and best of luck!

Congratulations Kristin! Are you buying the existing business with or without their name? I hope the agreement comes with a couple of weeks training so you'll have a chance to ease into retail reality. Buy yourself a comfortable pair of running shoes. And your website and Facebook page are great! Best of luck.

I'm getting really excited we meet Monday to go over the contract/final numbers. I'm really confident that this will be a smooth transition since the owner is going to maintain leadership for a few years while I build the wedding cake side of the business. The best thing for me is all the time, effort, talent will be building a reputation for me and not someone else. I can build this as fast or as slow as I like. I'm personally more comfortable with a slow balanced growth. My goals for the first year are...

1. transition into a storefront location
2. organize design area so I can start producing wedding cakes and custom work.
3. refocus my website to include wedding and custom work www.buttercreambella.com
4. Decorate windows and set up cake displays.
5. Set up cake decorating events at store
6. Learn all I can about running a store.
7. Join area chamber, networking groups, meet with event coordinators.

Let me know if I've missed something
