Why is this so difficult? (business name)

So, I'm in the beginning stages of starting my business and I'm having a hard time with my business name. I finally decided on one....Cakes In Bloom. I actually had gotten very excited about it, my town is called Bloomington so I was feeling very clever. Then I found out the domain name is already taken. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out a way to keep Cakes In Bloom but maybe add a word or something.... icon_confused.gif
Does anyone have any ideas for me? I've hit a wall...

Maybe Blooming Cakes? Or Custom Cakes in Bloom? Mine was kind of easy - - I live in Miles, so it had to be Miles of Cake. icon_rolleyes.gif

How about:

Beautiful Cakes in Bloom

or something along those lines.

That was my one stroke of genius today, LOL, or not, maybe I need a coffee. LOL

When you say the "domain name" is already taken, do you mean the website domain? If that's the case, you can still use the name "Cakes in Bloom" but tweak the website URL a little to something that's not already taken, like www.cakes-in-bloom.com or something....

Considering the current owner of cakesinbloom.com is based in Singapore I don't think that should stop you from using that name for your business, assuming there are no trademarks and no existing businesses in your county/state.

For example, you could call yourself "Cakes In Bloom" but use the domain name cakesinbloomington.com. I would stay away from dashes in the domain name if possible.

Wow!! All of you are so helpful! I knew I could count on this place! So many good ideas. Blooming Cakes is good. I thought of that, but I'm worried I might have issues with that since a large local grocery here is called Bloomingfoods...I don't know if I'd have a problem with that or not. Beautiful Cakes in Bloom would work too.
I thought about putting dashes in the domain name, but my husband encouraged me not to. I like the idea of using Cakes In Bloom as the business name, but having cakesinbloomington.com as the domain name. I hadn't thought of that! Great idea!

cakesinbloom+your state abbreviation.com is fine.

As far as the name itself, you just want to check with your state to see if it has been registered so that you can use it (and then register it yourself once you decide on the final name). You may want to consider something a little different though because of the fact that someone has that domain name and is using it to sell cakes. If your company name is Cakes in Bloom, people will tend to type in "cakesinbloom.com" before trying anything else. Of course that will take them to a site that is not yours. My feeling is it is always best to have your actual name and domain name the same, if at all possible.

You could also try .co, .met, or .biz insread of .com for your website. I like Cakes in Bloom for a name. I think it's a name that deserves a beautiful flower logo. icon_smile.gif good luck!

I wouldn't suggest using anything but .com
