Hey everyone first let me say that I am completely addicted to this site it has helped me so much! Now, with that being said I am doing a nightmare before christmas cake for a friend next week and I'm unsure of how to do the patchwork fondant on the top layer....she gave me a picture she found online of how she wanted it to look. I'm not sure if I could just press the pieces together on the top or try to roll them together....I'll post the picture below and let you pro's give me some advice lol icon_biggrin.gif Have a GREAT day!

Cover the cake in fondant. Cut the patchwork pieces and brush the backs lightly with water, then fit on the cake. I think I'd probably make a paper template and cut it up for patterns so that I'd be sure the patchwork sections could fit together. Paint the designs on with black icing color. Pipe the stitches with royal icing.
