Hi everyone,

This has probably been asked, but "search" came up with nothing. Can I use tappits on buttercream frosting. My lettering is not the best. I was going to add gumpaste to fondant and let it harden. I've heard that fondant disolves on buttercream, but hoping that if I put the lettering on at the last minute, this won't happen. Anyone have any experience with this?

TIA!

You can definetly put fondant or gumpaste letters on a buttercream cake. Personally because I have really humid weather I would keep it out of the fridge, since the gumpaste could melt from condensation when it comes out.

The only time I have had problem with fondant/gumpaste on a buttercream cake is when I put the cake in an airtight container. Then my flowers wilted.

I use fondant letters all the time on buttercream and have never had a problem. I don't use tappits but I do use clickstix, I love them.
Once your buttercream is crusted, I don't see any problems with placing fondant on it. I use fondant decorations on all my buttercream cakes.

I agre with the others. Have done it plenty and you will have no issues BUT DO NOT COVER IT! if you cover it (put it in a container etc) you will trap the moisture and the foundant WILL absorb it. If it is open you should have no issues icon_smile.gif

I probably did fondant decos on bc more often than not. However, I never, ever refrigerate cakes.

I put them on just before pickup or delivery. On cream cheese, I use a banner under the letters with the Click Stix.
